National Back To Church Sunday

Because one day can make a difference.
National surveys indicate the top two reasons people stop going to church are (1) they are “too busy,” and (2) they feel the burden of family and home responsibilities. These are very real reasons, but they are also probably the top two reasons why a person needs to be in church. Wherever a person is in life or their level of faith, a local church community can be there to support and encourage them.
Back to Church Sunday is a perfect opportunity for any person to get connected with a group of people who are making a difference, grow in faith, give their children a Christian foundation, learn to be a better parent, get marriage help, and reconnect with their community and with the God who loves them.
Service Time: Sundays – 10:15am

Guest: Dave Roever – Aug 14, 2011
Posted in: Blog, Calendar Events, Featured by conroefirst on August 5, 2011 | No Comments
Dave Roever grew up in a loving, committed family in South Texas. The last thing on his mind was going to war. At the height of the Vietnam War, he received his draft notice. Having no desire to serve in the infantry, he joined the Navy and served as a river boat gunner in the elite Brown Water Black Beret in Vietnam.
Eight months into his tour of duty in Vietnam, Roever was burned beyond recognition when a phosphorous grenade he was poised to throw exploded in his hand. The ordeal left him hospitalized for fourteen months, where he underwent numerous major surgeries. His survival and life are miraculous.
In every setting, Mr. Roever’s message is one of hope. Using his life as an example, he addresses issues relevant to his audience and presents concrete solutions to life’s problems. Often drawing upon his war experiences of loneliness, peer pressure, disfigurement and pain, as well as life’s triumphs, Dave weaves a message of courage, commitment and survival that touches and transforms those who hear him.

21 Day Fast 2011
Posted in: Announcements, Calendar Events by conroefirst on January 6, 2011 | No Comments
Join us in one of five levels of fasting
1. Give up one item, groups of items, or meal (i.e. sweets, meats, sodas, coffee, etc.)
2. The Daniels Fast (no meats, breads, sweets – only vegs, fruits & nuts)
3. Jewish Fast (no food between 6am – 6pm or 7am – 7pm – - Sun up to Sun set)
4. Fruit/Vegetable Juices and Water (no solid food)
5. Water Only (consulting your physician is advised)
Start your fast with the right intentions
- Fasting is not so much about food as it is about focus.
- Fasting is not so much about saying no to the body as it is about saying yes to the Spirit.
- Fasting is not about doing without, it is about looking within.
- Fasting is an outward response to an inward attitude and cry of the soul
Year End Giving
Posted in: Announcements, Blog, Calendar Events by conroefirst on December 28, 2010 | No Comments
We ask you to prayerfully consider giving an additional, year-end gift this week. God has called us to spread the good news and equip the Body of Christ through the local church. The giving of your time, resources, and finances make this possible.
Luke 10:2 say, “The harvest [need] truly is great, but the laborers are few,” so be part of the few that becomes many, and help enable the cause of Christ to carry on at Conroe First Assembly. – People Matter!
